What is your policy on children, smoking, and alcohol?We welcome guests aged 12 and above at Niyagama House, though we can't provide extra beds in our rooms. Our property is non-smoking, including all balconies, but we do have a 'secret' smoking spot below the pool area. While we don't serve alcohol in our restaurant, you're welcome to bring your own, and we have the perfect glassware for it!

Do I need a visa to visit Sri Lanka?Yes, you do need a tourist visa to visit Sri Lanka. Since 2012, it's been required. You can easily apply for it in advance to avoid long waits at Colombo airport upon arrival. What are my transportation options to Niyagama House?We offer a convenient airport pickup service in our own van for $95 USD. Our friendly driver will be waiting for you in the arrival hall with your name on a board. The drive takes about 1.5 hours, and we can add the cost to your final bill. Just let us know your arrival time and flight number when you confirm the shuttle. We can also arrange pickups from other locations with our van or a tuk-tuk. Just contact us for pricing details!

Can I book a yoga retreat package after I arrive?Yes, you can book a yoga retreat package after you arrive. We want you to have the chance to experience the class style and meet the teacher before committing to a full package. Just keep in mind that Aerial Retreats are limited to seven guests due to space constraints. Also, please check our yoga calendar to ensure the teacher is available during your desired dates.

Niyagama House is just out of this world.
I have been back a number of times and each visit opens up new experiences and memories that stay with you long after you have checked out. You can uniquely be at one with nature and yet pop into the city of Galle to walk around the busy streets if you want.
Returning to Niyagama is like stepping back into a secret garden of sanctuary and calm. I love the fact that you experience Sri Lankan smiles and hospitality from the staff and have the comfort of European standards of service, cleanliness and functionality during ones stay.
As a guest you are never ‘over served’ which comes as a welcome relief. You are however attentively served when it suits you. That makes a big difference. I wish there were more places to stay around the world like Niyagama House. As yet I haven’t found any that matches what they do. Well done to Elke and her amazing team.
